“cast away” is a mixed media installation inspired by old poems; specifically The Rime of the Ancient Mariner and The Lovesong of J. Alfred Prufrock. Reading these poems generations after each was written, I feel that our current ecological conundrum infuses them with new meaning. To create the installation, shown above in the Axle Contemporary Mobile Gallery, I manipulated discarded newspapers, crushed plastic bottles, garbage bags, aluminum cans and other odds and ends to form an ocean landscape, with text and imagery from the poetry incorporated throughout the scene.
